HELP BUILD A $5 MILLION LIFELINE FOR GAZA
Inspired by Macklemore and Ms. Rachel’s $1 million gifts in support of Palestine, the Gaza Children’s Shroud and Doctors Against Genocide (DAG) have joined forces to raise $5 million to restore lifesaving healthcare for Gaza’s children and families. All 38 of Gaza’s hospitals have come under brutal Israeli attack. Nineteen are now out of service, while the remainder struggle to function amid severe damage and critical shortages of medical supplies caused by Israeli restrictions on their entry.
We are asking everyone to support the Freedom Campaign to fund 11 urgent projects identified by Gaza’s health officials—from rebuilding pediatric, maternity, and emergency care units to providing mental health services and winter shelter.
Palestine’s Ministry of Health has identified $28.8 million in immediate needs, while rebuilding Gaza’s devastated health system is estimated to cost $10 billion (see powerpoint below). Our $5 million will fund urgent needs, closely coordinating with the other Ministry of Health projects and Gaza’s hospitals and medical providers.
Hear directly from front line doctors in Gaza and updates on the work of the Freedom Campaign on the DAG weekly webinars (Sundays, noon EST). Register here.
When you donate to the Freedom Campaign, 90% of your gift goes directly to urgent projects in Gaza. The remaining 10% helps bring the Shroud to communities across America, transforming remembrance into a nationwide movement for justice.
Both the Shroud and DAG are volunteer-led - your donation is put directly to work.
WHERE YOUR MONEY GOES
Psychiatry Care ($1.7 million): After three years, the need for psychiatric support is urgent and widespread. This project focuses on renovating the Aman Psychiatric Hospital for inpatient and outpatient care, Supporting Psychiatric Residency Program, and a Telemedicine Psychiatric Platform, Integrated Psychosocial Care, and providing psychiatric medications.
Mothers, newborns and children ($1.5 million): maternal and antenatal care so births can happen safely in hospital, plus pediatric and neonatal intensive care in Gaza City and North Gaza.
Emergency care at Al-Shifa Hospital ($886,000): construction is already underway to restore the emergency department which serves about 16,000 patients a month, and reconnecting it to the operating theaters and ICU. See photo photo of medical graduation at Al-Shifa Hospital.
Shelters, Tents and Winter Supplies ($250,000): 2 million Gazans are facing their fourth winter in displacement, while mobile homes are not allowed to enter Gaza by the occupation forces. This project provides Communities with Shelter, Tents and Winter Supplies.
Multi Specialty Residency Training ($240,000): Many of Gaza’s doctors, and heads of departments have been killed and taken hostage. The urgent need is to train the next generation of doctors. This project will support 20 resident physicians in specialty training for a year.
Rebuilding Nasser Medical Complex Pathology Department ($125,000): Reconstruction of the departments well underway, but Israeli restrictions have prevented essential equipment and supplies from entering Gaza, severely limiting the ability to diagnose diseases, including cancer.
Ophthalmology Care ($100,000): Support cataract surgery and Eye Care.
Emergency Contingency ($200,000): a small reserve against price rises and access delays.
GAZA, December 2025 - MEDICAL SCHOOL GRADUATIONS AT AL-SHIFA HOPSITAL
From the rubble, and from the heart of a place Israel sought to utterly destroy, life rose again. In front of Al-Shifa Medical Complex, Gaza's largest hospital. 170 male and female doctors from the Gaza Strip celebrated their graduation and the attainment of the Palestinian Board certification, a historic testament to resilience, perseverance, and an unyielding commitment to life.
The choice of location was no coincidence. Al-Shifa witnessed one of the most heinous crimes in modern history: a suffocating siege, military raids, the killing of more than 400 people, the arrest of dozens of medical staff, and the systematic destruction of its facilities.
From that very rubble emerged the “Humanity Shield Cohort” of new doctors, proclaiming the spirit of Palestine. Across Gaza, medical students continue to graduate, many displaced and living in tents.
