We are saying to the world and to the families who have lost everything that their children matter, that their pain is seen, that their grief is shared.
Hind Rajab, a six-year-old girl from Gaza, spoke these words before she her family's car was riddled with over 350 bullets from Israeli forces: "I love Gaza and I want to live. I am not just a number. Please don't forget us."
These children are not dead. They are alive with their Lord, in his presence and receiving His provision and grace. They are watching to see what we will do, to join them in truth and justice. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said,
"Whoever fulfills the needs of a brother or sister, Allah-God will fulfill their needs."
Oh Children of Gaza – Imam Saffet
Forgive us. Forgive us for our silence. Forgive us for our complicity. Forgive us for the weapons that fell on your homes. Forgive us for the votes of our governments. Forgive us for the taxes that funded your destruction. Forgive us for the media that dehumanized you. Forgive us for the world that looked away. Forgive us for not preventing your slaughter.
Forgive us for failing to protect you as you deserved to be protected.
